  • “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
  • "Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. 22 Run away from youthful lusts—pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those [believers] who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." 2 Timothy 2:21-22, AMP
  • "Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]." Romans 12:1-2, AMP
  • See Colossians 1:9-14, Ephesians 4:1-3, and 1 Thessalonians 2:12
  • “It would be a shame to work so hard to be fit for this world and unfit for the King.” Bonnie Pfiester

  • Read "Glorifying God in Our Bodies" from Truth for Life. "It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death." Philippians 1:20
  • Listen to "A Passion for Purity" from Truth for Life. "The life of a Christian should be marked by a passion for purity. How are we to maintain such fervor throughout our lives? In this message, Alistair Begg points out that cherishing God’s Word and living with eternity in view are the bookends of behavior that will help us achieve this. When we live with our hearts and minds closely aligned with Scripture, we will be better prepared to fight sin and to choose purity.
  • Listen to the series "Lessons for Life: Biblical Wisdom for Young Adults" from Truth for Life. "In volume one of this series, Alistair Begg draws from Scripture to teach audiences of college students about holding firm to Christian convictions.  In volume two of this series, Alistair Begg draws from Scripture to teach audiences of college students about the Christian life. In volume three of this series, Alistair Begg draws from Scripture to teach audiences of college students about God’s providential care. In volume four of this series, Alistair Begg draws from Scripture to teach audiences of college students about living for God’s glory."

  • "Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you fail to meet the test!" 2 Corinthians 13:5.
  • "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24.
  • Examine your heart when it comes to honoring God for motives, concerns, readiness, and equipment.
  • Specific to this challenge, it's important to think about more than physical exercise. As you exercise physically, meditate upon Bible verses about being an honorable vessel, being holy and set apart, and being pure- all for the Master's use. Honoring God with our bodies is about equipping ourselves to be Spiritually, Mentally, and Physically fit.

  • "Jesus, thank you for your strength to honor you with my mind and body. Thank you that you value me and love me. Thank you that you are a promise keeper. I trust you for the deep desires of my heart. Guard me from temptation and help me to take every thought captive in obedience to you. Allow the thoughts in my mind and desires of my heart to align with your Truth. I love you, Lord. Amen."  (From Christ Fellowship Church).
  • "Through prayer and meditation on the Word, become willing to let God have all the glory if any good is accomplished by your service. If you desire honor for yourself, the Lord must put you aside as a vessel unfit for the Master’s use. One of the greatest qualifications for usefulness in the service of the Lord is a heart that truly desires to honor Him." George Muller

  • READY: Now that you have studied Biblically, trained Spiritually, examined your heart, and prayed over this challenge, you are ready to undertake honoring God. You equipped yourself Spiritually, mentally, and physically, so get ready to go girl! This is a tough challenge! If you don't feel ready, trust that God has set you up to succeed!
  • SET: When God sent Moses with a message, Moses knew it may not be received or go well for him, to the point that in Exodus 4, Moses complained, "I am slow of speech and tongue” and said to the Lord, "Please send someone else". But Moses did go! Moses was later described as being "powerful in speech and action" (Acts 7:22). When it comes to honoring God, you may think, "Please ask anything else of me, for this is too difficult" but God is calling you and will overcome your fears and faults to work through you. When we trust God, our inadequacy becomes our legacy.
