  • “Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'” Matthew 28:18-20
  • "Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? '" Matthew 16:24-26

  • Read  "Learning to Make Disciples of Jesus: The Calling of Every Believer" by Thomas A. Tarrants, III, D.Min. from the C.S. Lewis Institute. Intro: "Have you ever been discipled by another believer? That is, did anyone help you in the process of coming to faith? After you came to Christ, did anyone help you grow more like Jesus, either informally or in some organized fashion? Or, from the other side, have you ever been in the discipling role, helping someone come to faith in Christ or grow as His disciple?"

  • "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24.
  • Examine your heart when it comes to making disciples for motives, concerns, readiness, and equipment.

EXAMINING OUR MOTIVES

  • "We don’t want to get to the end of our lives. None of us do. None of us wants to get to the end of our lives, look back, and realize we’ve not done the one thing you told us to do before you left. Jesus, help us to make disciples today, this week, this month, this year in our lives. Help us to make disciples. We pray that you would use our lives to cause other people to know your love, to begin relationship with you. And Jesus, we trust that you will empower us for this, that you will embolden us for this, and that your presence will be with us, until the day when we see your face and we will physically be with you forever. So we hold onto that promise and we pray. Help us. Help us to be faithful to your commission, from this day until that day. We pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen." (From David Platt at Radical.net).

  • READY: Now that you have studied Biblically, trained Spiritually, examined your heart, and prayed over this challenge, you are ready to undertake making disciples. You equipped yourself Spiritually, mentally, and physically, so get ready to go girl! This is a tough challenge! If you don't feel ready, trust that God has set you up to succeed!
  • SET: When God sent Moses with a message, Moses knew it may not be received or go well for him, to the point that in Exodus 4, Moses complained, "I am slow of speech and tongue” and said to the Lord, "Please send someone else". But Moses did go! Moses was later described as being "powerful in speech and action" (Acts 7:22). When it comes to making disciples, you may think, "Please send someone else" but God is calling you and will overcome your fears and faults to work through you. When we trust God, our inadequacy becomes our legacy.
