“'Return home and tell how much God has done for you.' So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.” Luke 8:39
" And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power." 1 Corinthians 2:1-5
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15
“The center and the core of the Gospel is what God has done, not what I have done.” Voddie Bauchum
Listen to "Your Testimony is not the Gospel" by R.C. Sproul. "A Christian’s testimony may be good news of a changed life, but in and of itself, it’s not the gospel. Today, R.C. Sproul reiterates that the power of God unto salvation lies in the message of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection on behalf of sinners."
"My life is not the Gospel. His life is the Gospel.” - R.C. Sproul
"Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you fail to meet the test!" 2 Corinthians 13:5.
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24.
Examine your heart when it comes to sharing your testimony for motives, concerns, readiness, and equipment.
"Heavenly Father, Thank you for everything you have redeemed in my life. I know that you want me to share my testimony so that others may believe. Help me identify which stories you want me to share so others will see your glory, Lord. I pray for courage and wisdom in sharing my testimony within your perfect timing. Holy Spirit, help me know when and what you want me to share. I trust that you will guide me. Help me to recognize the people you place on my path who need to hear. In Jesus’ name,
Amen." (From Sarah Geringer's 4 Tips for Sharing Your Testimony)
READY: Now that you have studied Biblically, trained Spiritually, examined your heart, and prayed over this challenge, you are ready to undertake sharing your testimony. You equipped yourself Spiritually, mentally, and physically, so get ready to go girl! This is a tough challenge! If you don't feel ready, trust that God has set you up to succeed!
SET: When God sent Moses with a message, Moses knew it may not be received or go well for him, to the point that in Exodus 4, Moses complained, "I am slow of speech and tongue” and said to the Lord, "Please send someone else". But Moses did go! Moses was later described as being "powerful in speech and action" (Acts 7:22). When it comes to sharing your testimony, you may think, "Please send someone else" but God is calling you and will overcome your fears and faults to work through you. When we trust God, our inadequacy becomes our legacy.
How can you make sharing your testimony a lifelong discipline?
Pray to persevere in sharing your testimony.
"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised." Hebrews 10:35-36
